About us
We're a community benefit society: a business that exists to benefit the community, owned and controlled by its members, with profits reinvested rather than paid out.
What we do
Our registered rules (Rule 4) set out our objects. We aim to:
- Provide facilities, retreats, workshops and structured programmes to prevent and relieve stress, burnout and related conditions in individuals, employees and communities.
- Deliver training, classes and resources on human health.
- Provide community facilities for recreation, leisure and self-development, to improve people's conditions of life.
- Make our services available to people from all backgrounds, including those who can't afford commercial wellness provision.
- Work with other organisations to improve workplace wellbeing and make wellness part of personal and professional development.
Our programmes
- The Reset: our four-day corporate wellness retreat
- Sleep: sleep pods, workshops, coaching and free online tools
- Movement: coached classes for every fitness level
- Fuel: nutrition workshops, hydration checks and coaching
- Mindset: workshops, circles and one-to-one coaching
Who benefits
Health
Programmes, retreats and activities that help people recover from stress and burnout and stay well.
Learning
Every retreat, class and workshop includes practical education on nutrition, exercise, sleep and mindfulness.
Access
Income from corporate programmes funds free and subsidised places for people who need them.
Community
When not used for retreats, our facilities are open for local classes and community activities.
Where the money goes
No profits are paid to members. Under Rule 102, members decide at the AGM how any surplus is used, either for:
- a general reserve to keep the society going and growing, or
- social or community purposes in the community we serve.
If the society were ever wound up, any assets left after paying debts would go to another non-profit body, never to members (Rule 107).
Our values
We follow the co-operative values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity, and the co-operative principles, including open membership and democratic member control (Rule 7).
We're based in Manchester and the North West, but our programmes are open to everyone.
